Membership
Our learned society was founded in 1961 to support the study of papyri in North America. If you are interested in academic research into these fascinating ancient texts, you will find a warm community in the American Society of Papyrologists, which operates within the shared international framework of the amicitia papyrologorum.
Become a Member
ASP members receive the annual issue of BASP gratis, and through their dues and involvement help to support all the workings of the Society, including the American Studies in Papyrology publication series, the biennial Summer Institutes in Papyrology, the annual ASP panels at the Society for Classical Studies and the Society for Biblical Literature, and the triennial North American Papyrological Seminar.
The ASP seeks to make BASP as accessible as possible, by keeping regular memberships low ($35 per annum with no shipping charges), including a substantial discount for student members ($16). Individual members who are financially distressed can qualify for subvented membership (i.e. without cost) on application to the Secretary-Treasurer at asp@papyrology.org.
Support Summer Institutes in Papyrology
Through the generosity of its members and friends, ASP has raised a substantial amount towards the goal of an Endowment to support the Summer Institutes in Papyrology in perpetuum, but seeks your help to finish the task. Click on the donate button if you are willing to contribute.
Support Digital Papyrology (papyri.info)
ASP also urges members and the public to support Digital Papyrology Endowment Fund, created to support the Papyrological Navigator (papyri.info) and the resources brought together there. That fund is hosted by the American Philosophical Society (APS). Click on the button to contribute by credit or debit card, or click here for information on making gifts by check or by transfer of securities.
Institutional Subscribers to BASP
Memberships are for individuals only. Institutions wanting to subscribe to BASP should contact Peeters Publishers.
